The way the San Diego Workforce Partnership has updated San Diego County’s Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) has been changing significantly in recent years. Since 2017, we have relied on our research findings to update the county ETPL, which now focuses on training for in-demand occupations in priority sectors.

Income Share Agreements (ISAs) provide opportunities for students to design financial aid best suited to their needs based on their future income and job success. Under an ISA, a student agrees to pay a percentage of their income over a given time period in exchange for tuition payments from nongovernmental sources. When the agreed timeframe ends, the student stops payments regardless of whether the initial amount was paid back to the ISA funder.

San Diego County’s Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) serves diverse communities and builds relationships for a brighter future. Here Bryanna Fornerod, Supervising Child Support Officer, Communications & Outreach tells us more about this important agency.

Olivia Justice is a program assistant at the San Diego Workforce Partnership. Here she tells a little bit about herself, both personally and professionally. 

The WDB provides oversight and funding direction to the Workforce Partnership, determining workforce strategy, objectives and priorities based upon regional needs and impact. Members represent all of San Diego County. As required by the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act, the majority of WDB members are from the private sector. Remaining members represent education, the public sector, organized labor and community advocates for workforce development. 

The County of San Diego Board of Supervisors proclaimed June 25 “San Diego Workforce Partnership Day” in honor of the Workforce Partnership’s 45th anniversary.

Bank of America today announced $530,000 in grants to 36 San Diego nonprofits that will advance economic mobility for individuals and families and put them on a path toward success. The grants focus on basic needs fundamental to building lifelong stability as well as needs related to workforce development and education that help individuals chart a path to better economic futures.

As part of our continuous learning and improvement of our programs and projects, the San Diego Workforce Partnership held our first ever Reentry Works Town Hall to hear from community stakeholders how best to create a release for proposals for approximately $2M in funding to serve current and formerly incarcerated individuals throughout reentering back to the community. Approximately 75 attendees engaged in a community conversation on creative solutions to solicit high-quality applications.

This “job fair alternative” brought job seekers directly to employers with a self-guided walking tour. The event played to the uniqueness of North Park to help young adults engage with local business owners, learn about new industries, explore entrepreneurship and gain employment. There were 69 job seekers and 16 businesses who participated in the event.
