What do you like best about working in workforce development?

I like the direction our organization is headed in workforce development. We recently made changes to focus on 5 sectors to help participants receive education and job trainings. I believe there’s two sectors that a lot of money is being invested in and will see tremendous growth in the next decade, those being Information & Communication Technologies, including our program CyberHire, and Energy, Construction & Utilities. Overall it’s exciting to see participants in the low income communities get the opportunities to grow in good jobs, and be able to provide for their families.

What is a typical day like for you?

I’ll usually wake up by 5:00am to read and head to the gym for a quick workout. After that it’s back home to my jumping 2 year old eating pancakes and requesting Cocomelon songs on Alexa. When we’re finished eating breakfast it’s playtime and getting dressed for preschool, you can call this my second work out of the day. When I get back home after dropping him off, it’s time to log on for work.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working? Any new hobbies since we started working from home?

I’m a big sports fan so when I’m not working, I’m usually watching some type of game on TV or trying to find a running back for my fantasy football team so I can make the playoffs. I have also become a big San Diego Zoo and Safari Park fan, since my son is in love with animals. Or I’ll be at a G3 facility (kid’s play gym) letting my little guy burn some energy. #Dadlife
