Chris Burlaka is a controller at the San Diego Workforce Partnership. Here he tells a little bit about himself, both personally and professionally.
What is a typical day like for you?
My days vary greatly, whether it’s assisting with requests from funders or partners, contracting, compliance, audits, leases, policy changes, system changes or something else. During my tenure with the Workforce Partnership, I’ve been challenged almost every single day.
What do you love best about working in workforce development?
I have been with the Workforce Partnership for four years. During this time, we have accomplished so much, which is evident by the WIOA Trailblazer Award we won in 2018.
We continue to push the envelope in so many ways including our newest venture, Income Share Agreements. It’s very rewarding working for an organization that touches the lives of so many San Diegans.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
During my free time I enjoy bike riding, volleyball, softball, long walks with my dog and attending my son’s sporting events.
