On April 10, SDWP was honored at the Goodwill Industries® of San Diego County (GISD) recognition luncheon with the “Good Neighbor” award, an honor bestowed on an extraordinary business or service that has demonstrated a commitment to Goodwill.
The partnership between GISD and SDWP includes career center collaboration and RetailWorks (#ReimagineRetail), an SDWP grant that supports GISD Employment Centers and enhances career pathways in retail for Goodwill Ambassadors, volunteers who build awareness of Goodwill’s programs and services, as well as Goodwill’s contribution to the community.
For this work, GISD is honoring SDWP for our consistent client referrals to Goodwill programs and services, and the opportunity to enrich the lives of GISD Ambassadors and their families.
“Our mutual goal is to impact individuals and empower them to get into the career pathway that they really want to pursue,” said SDWP CEO Peter Callstrom. “Like Goodwill, we do not want to provide a handout; we want to ‘empower.’ It is an honor to be recognized by Goodwill for our work in enhancing retail career pathways.”
