July 7, 2017

CONNECT2Careers (C2C) is offering free workshops hosted by MAAC Project in the month of July open to all San Diego County residents ages 16–24. Training specialists will provide young adults with helpful tips and tools to gain employment and introduce them to the soft skills necessary to get and keep a job. Young adults are invited to attend one or more workshops in the series:

  • July 11: Creating an Elevator Pitch
  • July 19: Preparing for Interviews
  • July 21: In-Demand Jobs
  • July 25: CONNECT2Careers Registration Drive

All workshops take place from 1–2 p.m. at the MAAC Project San Martin De Porres STEP Center located at 9119 Jamacha Rd., Spring Valley, CA 91977

Each workshop focuses on different ways for youth to best showcase their skills and experiences to future employers:

  • Creating and Elevator Pitch: build and practice your very own elevator pitch, a professional introduction to use at interviews and networking events
  • Preparing for Interviews: learn how to dress to impress employers and answer challenging interview questions
  • In-Demand Jobs: get information about growing job sectors in San Diego County and explore labor market information to plan a career path
  • Registration drive: get a step-by-step introduction to C2C’s online portal and gain access to hundreds of job postings and a peer job coach to help you throughout your job search

Youth should visit C2CSD.org/youth to login or register and RSVP. For more information, contact Amber Shevin at AmberShevin@workforce.org.
