School is out and it is time for summer jobs. CONNECT2Careers (C2C) is ready to help match employers with eager young adults age 16-24 who have applied to be placed in a summer job experience.
San Diego High School (SDHS) welcomed CONNECT2Careers to their campus on June 8 for a special Career Day event. Students came prepared with résumés and were dressed to impress as they headed around the fair. Booths were set up for résumé reviews and mock interviews as well as a strong showing of San Diego employers, who came to the fair with career pathway information and open positions. Employers included Ace Parking, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, City of San Diego, Eastridge Workforce Solutions, McDonalds, Richard Heath and Associates, Sea World, San Diego Futures Foundation, San Diego Job Corps, San Diego Zoo and YMCA of San Diego County.
On June 22, from noon to 5 p.m., C2C will be hosting a Southeastern San Diego Summer Jobs and Resource Fair at the Jacobs Center that is open to all young adults age 16-24. Attendees can look forward to an afternoon of job coaching and networking with employers like Ace Parking, McDonald’s, YMCA of San Diego County and more. There will also be prizes, music, and food. Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their résumé and dress to impress.
If you are an employer interested in hiring, contact Taryell Simmons, Youth Program Specialist at (619) 228-2960 or TaryellSimmons@workforce.org.
If you are interested in attending, C2C looks forward to seeing you there.
