Eddie is a nice, respectful young man who was diagnosed with a learning disability in his early childhood. He simply could not stay focused at times. When he first joined Able-Disabled Advocacy (ADA) in July 2013, he had little support from home; this kept him from entering the job market.
ADA provides employment and training services to individuals with all types of disabilities and other barriers to employment. ADA gave Eddie the opportunity to enhance his skills through enrollment into its Career$mart Program Microsoft Specialist Training, helping him focus on his goals. In addition to gaining Microsoft Office skills, he learned about financial literacy and work readiness.
After completing his training, Eddie received his Microsoft Office Specialist certification and immediately found employment at the Marine Corps Depot as a maintenance worker earning $13.75 per hour.
