ESE recruitment eventOn July 27, 300 participants attended an Expanded Subsidized Employment (ESE) recruitment event featuring 10 employers. Ten individuals left the job fair employed with Ace Parking and Fortress Guard Services, and an additional 47 people have interviews scheduled for the two weeks following the event. Of the 47, 10 more attendees were hired by Labor Ready two days later.

Aside from Ace Parking and Fortress Guard Services, other employers present included ARC of San Diego, Labor Ready, Nile Sisters, F3 Insurance, ITT Technical Institute, Family Health Centers of San Diego, Goodwill Industries and Wyndham. It was a collaborative event with the San Diego Refugee Forum, led by the San Diego Metro Career Centers’ ESE team.

“Our event was a success,” said Deona Dorsey, an ESE Business Service Representative with the San Diego Metro Career Center. “The employers were impressed with how many job seekers came to the event.”

ESE assists employers who are looking for skilled and work-ready employees, and helps reduce the costs associated with identifying, hiring and onboarding employees. ESE enables qualified companies to be reimbursed up to 100 percent of the wages of a new hire in the first 180 days of employment.
