Subject: New Extension for Temporary Protected Status Employment Documentation
The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced new extension dates for valid Temporary Protected Status (TPS) related documentation for six countries: El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan. America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) staff should be aware of these extended dates when verifying authorization to work documentation.
When verifying authorization to work, AJCC staff must use the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Form I-9. AJCC staff should note the new dates automatically extend the validity dates of the Employment Authorization Documents; Notice of Action (Form I-797) and Arrival/Departure Record (Form I-94). The validity dates for the affected countries are as follows:
|TPS Designation(s)||Current Expiration Date||New Expiration Date|
|El Salvador, Haití, Nicaragua, and Sudan||January 2, 2020||January 4, 2021|
|Honduras||January 5, 2020||January 4, 2021|
|Nepal||March 24, 2020||January 4, 2021|
Please refer to SDWP Operations Manual, Chapter 4. Part 1 and 2 for the Verification of Right to Work policy.
