The unemployment rate is gradually ticking downward at 13.9% in June, down from 15.2%. Every industry expanded except for Government, with a loss of 3,900 jobs.
Overall, employers in San Diego County have lost 168,700 net nonfarm jobs in the past year.
Please note: Employment data is based on the number of San Diego County residents who report (in an anonymous, random-sample survey) having a job. Industry data is based on a survey of San Diego County businesses, and includes data for people on their payroll. Multiple factors can contribute to a difference between these numbers, including survey margin of error, individuals with multiple jobs, and individuals who live in San Diego County but work elsewhere or vice versa.
