These are the official employment statistics for February 2020 and do not reflect the employment impact of COVID-19, which reached San Diego in March. The San Diego Monthly Employment Report (January to February 2020) shows an increase in the civilian labor force and employment, while the unemployment rate shows a slight decrease to 3.2%. Please note: Employment data is based on the number of San Diego County residents who report (in an anonymous, random-sample survey) having a job. Industry data is based on a survey of San Diego County businesses, and includes data for people on their payroll. Multiple factors can contribute to a difference between these numbers, including survey margin or error, individuals with multiple jobs, and individuals who live in San Diego County by work elsewhere or vice versa.
