Looking for a job in healthcare administration? Become a patient access representative by studying healthcare revenue cycle through UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies. Our threemonth, accelerated, online Healthcare Administration Pathways program provides comprehensive training in healthcare revenue cycle management. Participants gain specialized skills that set them apart in today’s competitive job market and pave the way for career advancement within the local healthcare field. 

What is a patient access representative? 

This essential role guides patients through the hospital admissions process with expertise and care. If you’re ready to start on a rewarding career path in healthcare administration, our no-cost  Healthcare Administration Pathways program offers an accelerated route to an entry-level position that is both meaningful and in high-demand. 

What is the healthcare revenue cycle?  

Revenue cycle management is a set of financial and operational processes, utilizing electronic health record and billing and coding software that tracks patient care episodes from scheduling and registration to final payment of balance. 

Participants will receive training in: 

  • Confirming insurance eligibility and assessing benefit levels 
  • Calculation out-of-pocket costs for patients 
  • Comprehensive understanding of various claim forms 
  • Strategies for appealing denied claims  
  • CPT Codes  
  • And more!   

Program features: 

  • Accelerated Training: Complete the program in just three months, equipping yourself with the knowledge and skills necessary for success in healthcare administration 
  • Flexible Learning: Benefit from a blend of asynchronous and synchronous online learning, supplemented by six mandatory live Zoom sessions 
  • Certification: Earn a Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) certification as a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative, further enhancing your credentials and marketability 
  • Job-Readiness Support: Receive comprehensive job-readiness training covering resume and cover letter writing, as well as job interview preparation, to ensure you’re well-equipped for the job market.
