This poster highlights skills valued by employers. Building these skills will help you to get a job and make you a superstar in your workplace.
COVID-19 has had an enormous impact on the economy; in the first week of mandated social distancing, Californians submitted more unemployment claims than any previous week on record. In this report we identify the occupations most at risk in the short term and the factors that will influence regional unemployment in the long term. We also highlight the support that the Workforce Partnership is providing to laid-off workers and struggling businesses. Workers and employers whose jobs are impacted by COVID-19 can find resources at workforce.org/covid-19.
In 2019, the state awarded us $2.4 million to build on the success of our work with Second Chance and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department serving the reentry population. As a result, we are expanding these services to more justice-involved individuals in San Diego and Imperial Counties. This report provides background on California’s corrections system and an overview of the Southern Border Region’s justice-involved population.

The San Diego Workforce Partnership and the South County Economic Development Council engaged in survey research that highlights short- and long-term workforce needs in two specific defense subsectors: The Professional, Scientific & Technical Services (PST) sector and unmanned systems (aerial, underwater, land, and surface).

Through The Aspen Institute’s Reimagine Retail Initiative, the San Diego Workforce Partnership undertook a research project to understand the social, economic, and regulatory forces driving change in San Diego County’s retail sector.
Last year, we released research on the over 41,000 16–24-year-olds not working and not in school in San Diego County. One year later, Measure of America and the Workforce Partnership have released new data on opportunity youth in the county. Explore the latest measures and demographics of disconnection that are anchoring our region’s movement to reduce youth disconnection.
