Tiffani is a program specialist on our trainings team. Below she tells us about her typical day, what she likes about working in workforce development and how she spends her time off.
What is a typical day like for you?
As the program specialist for the training team, my day revolves around fostering collaborative partnerships with training providers to offer occupational training opportunities to participants at our career centers. I work closely with these providers to identify in-demand training programs that can benefit residents of San Diego County, ensuring mutual growth for both program participants and training providers. This involves tasks such as adding providers to the California Eligible Trainers provider list (ETPL) and leveraging Contracted Education Trainings, which collectively offer over 180 different training programs to participants per year.
What do you like best about working in workforce development?
What I find most fulfilling about my work in workforce development is witnessing the success and motivation of our participants. I take pride in contributing to discussions on job development, equal pay and the future of key sectors. Serving diverse participants facing various employment barriers, such as at-risk youth, displaced homemakers, justice-involved individuals, disabled individuals, veterans and other reentry populations, allows me to witness firsthand their resilience in overcoming challenges and realizing the rewards of their efforts.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Outside of work, I find joy in traveling, staying active through workouts and spending quality time with my family and friends. Exploring different countries and discovering new corners of San Diego tops my list of favorite activities. As a native of Los Angeles, I frequently venture north, exploring new coffee spots and supporting local businesses along the coast.
