Amber Shevin is a CONNECT2Careers program analyst at the San Diego Workforce Partnership. Here she tells a little bit about herself, both personally and professionally.

What is a typical day like for you?

Every day is totally different and always busy for me! I spend a lot of time working with each of our team members to make sure all of our programs are on track. I often jump in wherever I’m needed, so I get to have a hand in a lot of different parts of our work. Sometimes I’m calling youth and screening for program eligibility, brainstorming recruitment strategies for our programs, building reports on Salesforce for our team to use, supporting with training or whatever else is needed on any given day. I really enjoy supporting everyone on our team and getting to play a role in so many different aspects of our work.

What professional moment or project are you most proud of?

When I first started at the Workforce Partnership, I worked in a role supporting our job coach program. Over the course of my time here, it’s been really neat getting to watch quite a few of our job coaches move into full-time roles with different teams internally as well as get great next jobs somewhere else. It’s been really rewarding for me to follow their journeys!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

When I’m not working I love doing anything active and outdoors. I love to surf, garden, run, take my dog to the beach, hike and honestly just about anything else where I get to be outside moving around. I’ve been lucky enough to have spent several years living and working outside the U.S. prior to moving to San Diego, so I also spend quite a bit of time connecting with close friends and family who still live internationally.
