SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Workforce Partnership announces the appointment of new members to its Workforce Development Board (WDB). The new members are:

  • Barb Krol, Chief Human Resources Officer at California Coast Credit Union
  • Ricky Shabazz, President, San Diego City College

Barb Krol has been with California Coast Credit Union since April of 2016. Krol’s focus is in strong team building and coaching and developing executives and teams to achieve reduced turnover, maximize potential/productivity and champion advancement.  Prior to California Coast Credit Union, Barb has served in HR leadership roles for Tilly’s, The Wet Seal, The Home Depot, Pacific Sunwear, Disney and Bath and Body Works.

Dr. Ricky Shabazz is an enthusiastic, student-centered leader with over 18 years of executive experience advancing academic achievement, educational equity, diversity, and improving access to higher education. As the President of San Diego City College he provides executive leadership at one of the most innovative and socially active community colleges in the nation.

“We’re honored to welcome Barb and Ricky to the WDB. Their rich experience and unique skill sets are an ideal complement an already stellar board as we work to support more business and job seekers in San Diego County,” says Workforce Partnership CEO Peter Callstrom.

The WDB provides oversight and funding direction to the San Diego Workforce Partnership, determining workforce strategy, objectives and priorities based upon regional needs and impact. Members represent all of San Diego County. As required by the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act, the majority of WDB members are from the private sector. Remaining members represent education, the public sector, organized labor and community advocates for workforce development.
