Rebecca Aguilera-Gardiner and Marlene Taylor have been elected to serve as Chair and Vice Chair of the San Diego WIB for 2013-2014. The WIB, comprised of businesses and various entities representing the San Diego region, oversees funding for workforce development programs. They also work to identify labor and training needs, ensuring SDWP funded programs meet the needs of local employers.
Rebecca is a native San Diegan, the youngest of three children, and was raised in National City, California. Her father, Diego Aguilera, founded Diego and Son Printing, Inc. forty years ago and the business has remained family-owned and operated ever since.
Rebecca received her Associates Degree at San Diego City College in Telecommunications and has always been environmentally conscious, helping Diego & Son Printing become a green friendly business since 2001. She serves on several boards including the Crawford High School Advisory Board, and the San Diego Industrial Recreation Council.
Marlene Taylor is deeply involved in our community and committed to workforce development. As President of Taylor Trim & Supply, she oversees operations, strategic planning, and the overall profit and loss for the business. She also works to ensure that the company is living out their core values, creating a positive and productive environment, and a safe place for employees to work.
Marlene holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and has over 27 years of experience in the building industry. She also serves on the San Pasqual Academy Employer Advisory Board and the Virtual Enterprise Advisory Committee, where she mentors local high school and college age students and provides internship opportunities through her company.
We are honored to welcome Rebecca and Marlene as the incoming WIB leadership.
