Northrup Grumman, one of San Diego’s largest employers and defense contractors, hired a City of San Diego high school student as a summer intern through Connect2Careers.
Zachary Domanico, a sophomore at La Jolla Country Day School, will now get to spend the summer working on cybersecurity initiatives as a CyberPatriot intern. This is an opportunity to earn real world experience, new skills, and a notable addition to his resume.
Dominico, who wants to pursue a computer science degree in college, believes this opportunity will give him a firsthand look at where this career path could take him. He is appreciative for this opportunity and noted that he was interested in the Connect2Careers program because he thought it would open doors to local businesses he would not be able to access otherwise.
As a company that works in the highly specialized industry of cyber defense, Northrup Grumman faces a constant challenge in recruiting qualified young people for their prestigious internships. This year, the company benefitted from the Connect2Careers candidate pipeline.
Northrop Grumman places value on preparing high school and college students for tomorrow’s opportunities and joins a growing list of San Diego companies that are benefitting from the Connect2Careers initiative.
