Join us on August 21 at the Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library for Family Career Exploration Day.
Job seekers, curious youth or those simply looking to refresh their careers are invited to attend a free Family Career Exploration Day. Organized through a collaboration between the San Diego Public Library and San Diego Workforce Partnership, with support from the San Diego Public Library Foundation, the program amplifies the Library and Workforce Partnership’s services provided throughout the community including job skills and career development resources.
The San Diego Public Library and San Diego Workforce Partnership believe in offering San Diegans free resources that they need to succeed. By joining forces, they can combine their unique offerings in one special event in order to push San Diego’s economy forward.
The event will help San Diegans, regardless of income, age or background, explore and rediscover interests and hone in on untapped skills. By offering research-tested resources that help people organize their interests, the program helps people be better matched with meaningful careers where they are more likely to perform better and achieve greater job satisfaction.
“We know workers whose jobs have been at-risk throughout the COVID-19 crisis may be struggling to find their way back to job stability,” said Sarah Burns, director of learning at San Diego Workforce Partnership. “We want to ensure everyone has access to job opportunities, training and the right tools and strategies to succeed.”
With help from the San Diego Public Library Foundation, the event will also feature a laptop giveaway to up to 36 adult participants who need elevated support and digital access for their career search. This collaborative event hopes to bring digital and on-site resources to the community and develop a program blueprint for future accessible education and career development programs for those affected by socio-economic challenges.
