Computer Literacy Checklist

Here is a checklist of computer tasks you should complete or know how to perform to be successful in your course.

Zoom

  • Download or update Zoom on your device
  • Join a Zoom meeting
    • Through a Zoom link
    • Through a Meeting ID and Passcode
    • After the internet drops and you need to get back in
  • Mute/unmute yourself
  • Turn your video camera on and off
  • Use the chat box to send/receive messages from everyone
  • Participate in polls
  • Join/participate in breakout rooms
  • Use reactions like “Raise Hand” feature to raise your virtual hand
  • Use the Zoom chat box to send/receive direct messages

Microsoft Teams

  • Set up Teams and sign in using your credentials
  • Start a direct message (chat)
  • Post messages in a Team’s channel and reply to threads
  • Schedule a meeting via the Calendar and invite participants
  • Join a scheduled meeting using the “Join” button
  • Mute/unmute, share your screen and use the chat feature during meetings

Internet Tasks

  • Open an Internet browser
  • Type in a URL to navigate to a website
  • Favorite/bookmark a website
  • Search Google and YouTube

Google Drive

  • Open a Google Drive link
  • Save a Google Drive link to easily access it again in the future (bookmark the URL or save to “Starred” if you have an existing Google account)
  • Navigate folders in a Google Drive
  • Open links from a Google Doc or PDF
    • Fill out forms from those links

Email Tasks

  • Send/receive emails
  • Download/view attachments
  • Navigate/open links or hyperlinks in an email
  • Create/attach a Word document
  • View attached documents
  • Search emails by date received, senders, or subject line
  • Locate an email that landed in spam/junk
