December 31, 2013

This past year has been one of many successes and progress in our mission to support job seekers
and employers. We are happy to share a few of our highlights (in no particular order) as we close out 2013 and look forward to a new year of service to our region. Wishing you a wonderful 2014, from all of us at the San Diego Workforce Partnership!

  1. Connect2Careers (summer youth jobs) led to 400 jobs
  2. Platform2Employment (serving long-term unemployed) resulted in new careers
  3. We opened our newest Career Center location in the downtown library
  4. Adult and Youth programs served over 14,000 job seekers
  5. We welcomed 10 new Workforce Investment Board (WIB) members
  6. Restructuring initiatives enabled us to reinvest thousands more in programs
  7. We released new and unique labor market research reports
  8. Our CEO joined new boards, spoke at many events, and increased our outreach
  9. We received new grants to help expand our services to the region
  10. Greatly expanded community outreach by launching social media and eNews

Also, a big thank you to our Board Chairs in 2013…
Chair County Supervisor Greg Cox – Policy Board
Chair Ed Hidalgo – WIB Board (term ended June 2013)
Chair Rebecca Aguilera-Gardiner – WIB Board (began July 2013)
Chair Alan Kneale- Board of Directors

And, thank you to our wonderful Board and committee members for their support, involvement, and advocacy for quality workforce programs in our region.
