March 2, 2015

The San Diego Workforce Partnership is excited to announce the launch of its CONNECT2Careers (C2C) summer program for 2015. The youth employment program addresses San Diego’s ongoing skills gap by providing meaningful work experiences that prepare young adults for in-demand jobs. The C2C application opened on March 2. Interested young adults can apply here.

C2C participants must be:

  • A County of San Diego resident
  • 16–24 years of age on or before the application deadline
  • Able to provide their own transportation
  • Able to obtain a work permit, if under the age of 18
  • Able to complete the online application process
  • Able to commit to an unpaid, pre-employment workshop
  • Able to apply to multiple employer positions online

By aligning the career aspirations and educational backgrounds of young adults with businesses committed to developing our emerging workforce, C2C creates a positive experience for both employers and youth.

The program offers young adults:

  • Pre-placement work-readiness training and mock interview to prepare for application, interviews and workplace success
  • Career insights and skill-building
  • Staff guidance and support throughout the application process
  • Staff guidance and support throughout the work experience
  • Paid work experience

San Diego employers that have already committed to working with C2C this summer include American Specialty Healthcare (ASH), Buster Biofuels, Cox Communications, SeaWorld, the County of San Diego, Manpower, UPS and T3W. Work experiences are typically available across a variety of industries, including retail, clerical, hospitality, fast food, sports-recreation/leisure, nonprofit, education, government, and information technology.
