December 10, 2015

In 2015, the CONNECT2Careers team has had an opportunity to work with several community partners and build relationships with countless youth agencies across San Diego County. One of those partners is San Diego Job Corps who, through their residential program, serve just over 550 young adults ages 16-24, by offering hands on training in 18 different trade industries and an opportunity to obtain a high school diploma.

Throughout this year, C2C collaborated with Job Corps on several projects, including registering training graduates for C2C and providing work-readiness workshops, to partnerships in job development, hiring events and job fairs for young adults throughout the county. On December 9, at Job Corps’ year-end Community Partners Luncheon, C2C was awarded the “Community Partner of the Year” award for these collaborative efforts. Among the attendees was Serge Dedina, Mayor of Imperial Beach, along with many business partners and employers.

“It was a great surprise and honor to be presented with the ‘Community Partner of the Year’ award,” says C2C Program Coordinator Ernesto Rivera. “It’s a reminder that the great work we do and the services we are able to provide to the community are very much appreciated.”
