Receiving Competitive Grants Allows SDWP to Fund Additional Job Training Programs in the Region

The San Diego Workforce Partnership is a 501(c)(3) organization that can receive grants as a charity. The organization typically pursues funding in several key areas, including:

  • Competitive workforce and training grants from federal agencies like the Department of Labor and the Department of Health and Human Services;
  • Competitive workforce and training grants from state agencies like the Employment Development Department, the California Energy Commission, and the California Workforce Investment Board;
  • Corporate sponsorship of the Life Sciences Summer Institute by companies such as Gen-Probe, Inc., Life Technologies, and Genentech; and,
  • Corporate, local government and other community sponsorship of the Summer Hire-A-Youth program.
